Sunday, October 26th was a day for a long, long walk--and so I took one!  First I went to see the Statue of Liberty on the Isle aux Cygnes (Island of Swans).  The Isle aux Cygnes is an artificial, tree lined island about 850 meters long located in the Seine and originally constructed to protect the port of Grenelle.  I got there via the Pont de Bir-Hakeim  (there are stairs from the bridge leading down to the island.

I saw a balloon flying over the Seine just near the Pont de Grenelle.  Did you know that the first personned balloon flight in Paris was from the Butte Aux Cailles (where I'm staying)?

She's big!  And she's facing her sister in New York harbor.

Here is a picture from the Pont de Bir-Hakeim of the Eiffel Tower and another of a statute located there with the bridge in the background.

I walked along the Seine back toward the Tour Eiffel and was delighted to find lots of beautiful wooden benches to sit and relax on . . .
or depending on who you are, walk on . . .

I was walking along Les Berges de Seine--an innovative and charming series of developments and activities on the banks of the Seine between the Eiffel Tower and the Musée D'Orsay.  Here is "Dancing Nana."
Much of the activity is centered on floating barges moored to the banks.  It's disconcerting to be walking or sitting on what seems to be a concrete structure and feel is move when the wake of passing boats hits it!

A lot of the pieces are designed for children and families--and there were lots of people out today enjoying Les Berges.

If it were sunnier and a little warmer, I might have had a picnic here.

Or taken a nap!

Places to exercise
 Enjoy some greenery
There is art

And you can reserve these ZZZ Boxes for a bit of private space or perhaps to catch some "zzzz's."

There was much, much more--game spaces, mazes, paddle ball courts, more art, and even teepees you can play in or where you could hold a children's party.
I made it to the D'Orsay

and then walked from there to the Luxembourg Gardens.  At that point, I gave up and took a bus the rest of the way!

Adieu until tomorrow.
